Seeking Medical Assistants:
Full Job Description
We are seeking a Dermatology Medical Assistant to become a part of our team! You will perform routine administrative and clinical assignments to keep the medical facility running smoothly.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Assist physician with medical procedures, maintenance of patient records, and perform lab work as needed and qualified
- Perform routine clinical tasks to support medical staff
- Communicate with insurance companies for proper billing procedures
- Escort patients to exam rooms
- Review incoming messages and perform all necessary duties to complete task as well as triage telephone calls when needed
- Ability to perform Prior Authorizations and communicate the process to patients
- Maintains knowledge of changes and requirements of insurance companies to aid in the completion of referrals and laboratory tests
- Maintain cleanliness of exam rooms and office
- Maintain adequate stock and restock of exam rooms and labs. Empty bio-hazard containers/bags following MIOSHA compliance while handling medical waste appropriately
- Discard of expired medications/chemicals appropriately and document as such
- Must act as a liaison between patient and physician
- Ensure correct data entry and maintain data and documents in EHR as well as understanding MIPS and its requirements to patient data
- Complies with MIOSHA standards, rules, and regulations
- Understands compliance in a medical office
- Practices HIPAA compliance on and off duty and maintains the highest level of confidentiality
- Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting or other related fields
- Familiarity with medical billing procedures
- Strong organizational and communicating skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to wear a mask at all times per guidelines due to COVID-19
- Able to sit, stand, and minimal weight lifting is required
- EMR systems: 1 year (Preferred)
- Medical Assisting: 1 year (Preferred)
- BLS Certification: (Preferred)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $13.75 - $17.00 per hour
